Good morning,

Just a quick note to say that we have a confirmed case of chicken pox within the department. I am sure most of your children will have had it but if not please keep your eyes peeled for any spots, they start off as small red spots but quickly get bigger.

For more advice on chicken pox please follow this like to the NHS information: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/chickenpox/

Many thanks

Dear Parents/Carers

What an Epic week the children have all had.  We hope they all enjoyed their epic activities – they definitely deserve a week off.

After the holidays, the children will be able to take a book home from the library on our library sessions.

Miss Rooney – Monday

Miss Baker – Tuesday

Mrs Hynes – Wednesday

Please remember to bring this book back on the class library day so they do not get confused with the classroom books.

The children have all taken home a ‘wow moment’ certificate today.  Please feel free to fill these out and return them to school if your child has any exciting wow moments at home over the next few weeks.  For example – riding a bike,  swimming in the sea, eating a new food etc.

In phonics we will be reviewing and applying the sounds we have been learning.  In number we will be practicing and using our numbers to 20.

If you have any photos of your week off, please send them into us so that the children can share and write about them.

We hope you have a lovely week off.

Many thanks

Reception Walk to School Week

Dear Parents / Carers,

Next week is ‘Walk to School Week’. This is a health initiative that encourages all school children to walk to school. Please check out the flyer sent out in book bags today. If you need to drive to school to get on to work or nurseries etc then maybe park a little further away!

As we approach the final Summer half Term we are encouraging Reception children to say goodbye to parents and carers at the main Reception door. The children are very independent during the day with other little jobs so should be fine to sort their morning things now. Such independent little people!

Thank you for your support

Dear Parents / Carers,

This week is EPIC Week! During this week the children will be trying lots of different activities every afternoon. These include climbing on a bouncy castle, making stick people, programming robots, craft and cooking. Reception will be joining Year One teachers and children and rotating throughout the week. Children need to wear PE kit to school all week, NO Uniform please.  This does not need to be school PE kit, just comfy clothes and trainers. Please ensure your children have a hat and a water bottle.

Swimming will be as normal.

We will also be recapping some of our most recent sounds, ‘oa’, ‘ur’, ‘or’, ‘ay’. In Numeracy we will be looking at place value.

Thank you for all your support,

Reception Teachers

Dear Parents/Carers

In Phonics we will be learning ‘ur’ – nurse with a purse, ‘oi’ – spoil the boy and ‘ow’ – blow the snow.  In Maths, we will be focusing on subtraction using cubes, Numicon and a numberline.

We have had a few children without swimming kits and PE kits.  Please remember to send these in with your children on the correct days.  Please provide a hat, water and apply sun cream in the hot weather.

The children have been enjoying visiting the Discovery Zone in year 1, and playing games on the field with the Year 6 buddies every Friday afternoon.

Many thanks

Dear Parents / Carers,

A short week this week means no new phonic sounds. We will be talking lots about Liberation Day and writing about our extended weekend. We hope you all have fun.

We will be having PE on Thursday so remember to pack shorts (we still hope for sunny weather!) a water bottle and a hat.

We have three confirmed cases of Scarlet Fever in reception at the moment. Please look out for temperature, sore throat and a rash on the body.  Antibiotics are required so please pop to the doctors if you have any concerns.

Happy Liberation Day long weekend!

Posted by Miss Baker | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on April 25, 2018

Dear Parents/Carers

Today you should have received a technology questionnaire in your child’s book bag.  We would be very grateful if you could you fill this out and return it to us by Monday 30th April.

This will help us understand the technology that is being used at home and enable us to plan for future activities in school.

Many thanks

Dear Parents/Carers

We have been very happy to welcome back the sunshine! Please ensure that your child brings their hat to school everyday and that you apply sun cream before they come in each morning. If your child is prone to sunburn then please send sun cream in with them and we will help them to apply it.

This week in phonics we will be learning three new sounds: ‘oa’- goat in a boat, ‘ar’- start the car, ‘oo’- poo at the zoo. In Numeracy we will be continuing with number bonds, learning to tell the time and solving problems. On the stage we are developing our musical skills by playing pitched bells.

Starting this Friday afternoon children will take turns to visit the Year 1 discovery zone or enjoy games with the Year 6 leaders.

Many thanks
