Dear Parents / Carers,

Can you believe it is the final week of Reception! What an amazing year we have had. The children are ready for a holiday and excited to move to Y1. Thank you for all your support during the year, you have been amazing and we have loved getting to know you and your children.

Swimming will run as usual this week. Please remember kit.

On Monday you will receive a report for your child. Please fill in the reply slip with a comment as we love to hear your feedback.

We will be collecting in all Reading Records on Monday and reading books. Please have a really good look at home for any school books as these are a valuable resource we will need for September.

On Tuesday your child will need to bring a carrier bag to school to take their folders home.

On Thursday there will be no PE. We finish school at 1pm so the children will not need to bring a lunch, just a snack and water bottle.

We return to school on Thursday the 6th of September.

Happy holidays!

Reception Team

Dear Parents/Carers

Thank you for your amazing support at the Year 1 meetings this week, we value this parent partnership and look forward to a smooth transition for all.

On Thursday we are going on a Teddy Bear’s Picnic! On Monday as a class we will make a list of the food we will need to make sandwiches etc. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings we will go in small groups to the Co-op to purchase the required items. To enable us to take 2 groups at a time we really need one parent from each class to accompany us.

Miss Rooney’s class will go each morning so will need a volunteer from 9-10am.

Mrs Hynes and Miss Bakers classes will go from 9-10 on Tuesday and Thursday. On Wednesday they will go at 11am.

If you are able to do any of the days please let your class teacher know.

To support us with the cost of the picnic food please could you send your child in with 50p on Monday morning. On Thursday your child can come in non-uniform and bring in a teddy/soft toy to join in the picnic fun (please make sure they are named!). As a result of the picnic they will not need lunch or a P.E kit on Thursday.

Many Thanks

Dear Parents/Carers

Another week over! The children were fantastic in their sponsored swim.  We are all very proud of them.

Next week we will be assessing where the children are in their phonics in preparation for their next steps in year 1.  As a result, the children may not be heard reading next week.  Please make sure you are reading at home daily.

We are running very low on our junk for junk modelling.  Please send in any clean cardboard and plastic that you have at home so the children can get creative!

We will continue to have PE and Swimming at the usual times. Please ensure that you send in appropriate kit on the correct days.

We are looking forward to seeing you all at the meet and greet session with Year 1 next week.  Just a reminder that these are on-

Monday  2nd at 9-9.45am

Wednesday 4th at 2.15-2.55pm

Thank you for your continued support.

Please send your child to school with a named sunhat every day. If it is foggy in the morning please still ensure they have a hat at school as the sun seems to be making it’s appearance around lunchtimes and although we have some spares we do not have enough for everybody.

Mrs Hynes Class Only

Owen Williams has lost a named pair of PE shorts. Please can you check kit.

Many thanks

Dear Parents/Carers

This is a very exciting week as we start it off with our sports day! Please make sure your child comes to school on Monday morning with a water bottle, hat, sun cream applied and in their sports kit. Miss Bakers class will be swimming as normal so if you are coming to watch in the afternoon please re-apply sun cream as they move around the field, if you are not able to attend please send some sun cream into school in the morning.

Just to remind you of your class colours: Miss Baker- White, Miss Rooney- Red, Mrs Hynes- Blue

We will also be having a visit from ‘Men in the trees’ on Thursday to teach us all about the local flora and fauna in our school grounds. In Numeracy this week we will be going on measuring scavenger hunts and continuing to work out subtraction problems. In Phonics we will be applying our sounds in our writing and reading as well as playing some games.

Last week our Library slots were missed due timetabling so this week we have moved our afternoons along to ensure we can fit them in. So your child will come home with a new book chosen from the library this week which they will then return the following week for a new one.

A small plea for Shaun the sheep! A small figure of Shuan was lost in the department on Tuesday and is being very missed. If you could just check your children’s bags to see if he may have stowed away in one of them we would be very grateful!

Many thanks

Dear Parents/Carers

Next week in phonics we will continue to review and apply the sounds we have been learning.  In number we will be going on a shape hunt around the school and practising subtraction using 10’s frames.

On Monday afternoon, we will be going to watch the school’s production of ‘The Pied Piper’ which the juniors have been working very hard on this term. On Thursday morning, we will be having a visit from the Bee Man who will come come and talk to us about the importance of bees and show us some of the things he uses to keep them.

Today was a very hot day, and there were lots of children without sunhats in school.  Please make sure that you send your children in with a sun hat they they can keep in their tray.  The children enjoy spending a lot of time outside now the weather getting better and must have a hat if they want to do so.

Many thanks for your continued support
